Did anyone have any good resources that define the implications of traumatic brain injury?

I have a severe brain injury and I’m wanting to find easy to read articles or YouTube videos so that my partner can get a clearer picture of how it affects me.

I’m exhausted trying to explain these things myself.

Does anyone understand how hard it is to get up in the morning and do anything when all I want to do is sleep and cry?

I’m tired of putting on an act for everyone else when I feel so bad/crappy inside! It’s exhausting for sure!

I don’t know how much longer I can do this!! If anyone has any ideas or advice, please let me know, thank you.

I have a question about AWARENESS - how long does it take to get to that phase of recovery?

My husband is 11 months post TBI. So far, I think he is still in the Denial phase - he doesn’t see that he has severe memory and cognitive issues. And from what I understand, he can only get better after he becomes aware of his deficits , and starts using strategies to compensate for those. Right now he is very passive in his recovery , and I have to constantly push him to do brain exercises that speech therapist gives him. Otherwise, he could be just sitting on the couch watching videos on his phone all day long ....(

In YOUR reality with YOUR income and taking into basic living expenses what would YOU be able to afford realistically?

I am not saying that what our realities are would ever be accepted as a rent payment, but what is your realistic number? If its $0 then that is a realistic number that I would like to be able to take into consideration.

Example:

Income $2000

Basic necessities $800

Affordable rent $700 - $1000

Once you’re back at work and stuff.. even if you struggle with the long term effects of TBI, are we considered disabled or are we back to normal?

I mean, I can do everything so I think I’m normal.. but the side effects long term make life and day to day work tough. But not disabled right? Someone asked me today and I said no.

Why is my husband's personal hygiene is so bad?

Weeks go by without taking a shower. He will dress in the same dirty bad smelling clothes . Talking with him doesn't help. Nothing wrong with his smell. He wasn't like that pre injury.

Does anyone have a problem driving their car on manual?

For those that weren't allowed to drive for a period of time after your brain injuries.

So I got my license back after nearly 2 years. I have 2 cars, 1 manual and 1 automatic.

The automatic one I can drive with no problems at all but I'm really struggling getting back into driving the manual one!!
